How to Start Your Own Article Directory
from:Starting your own article directory will take some thought before you take the plunge. There are numerous things to consider before starting your article directory. The first thing you need to decide is whether you want to center on one area (also known as a niche) or do you want to cover all sorts of topics.
Once you have that figured out, you need to decide on a domain name. The domain name you choose will depend on what type of articles you will be hosting. Say for instance you are into auto racing (like me…lol). Then you may want your domain to be some like autoracingfans, thethrillofthethunder or racingfreaks. These are just examples to demonstrate your possibilities. Now if you are concentrating on numerous topics then of course your domain will be different than if you are focusing on a niche. If you want a domain that focuses on articles from cars to fashion to food and everything in between, then your domain choices may be everyarticleunderthesun, allyourarticleneeds or articlesforyou. If you are having a tough time coming up with a domain, there are places on the internet where you can plug in your keyword and it will produce a list of possible domains.
Now you are going to need a web hosting company. Now this task is going to make you pull all your hair out because there are hundreds upon thousands of web hosting companies out there. So to make the process easier, here are a few things to look for when looking for a web host. You want the website hosting company to be able to host several domains under one account. This is especially important if you want to have more than one article directory or say you want to host a blog or your own website in addition to your article directory. Another important feature of a web hosting company is to be sure they can accompany plenty of storage space. You don’t want to be limited on the amount of space you can use. You want to have the freedom to create your article directory the way you want without having to worry about how much space you have left to work with. You also want to be able to have multiple email addresses available to you. And you want to have multiple MySql databases. These are just what they sound like; they are databases. And the most important feature when looking for a hosting company is to be sure they have customer service available to you through several different means such as web, email or phone. You need to be able to get a hold of someone within in a small amount of time if you have a pressing question. Some companies have 24 hour support and some have live chats. I am a big fan of live chats because you can just click on Live Chat on the website and be connected to someone instantly.
So these are just the basics in starting your own article directory.
